The Point, an Adirondack Great Camp built for William A. Rockefeller at the height of the Great Depression, was owned and operated by The Garrett Hotel Group for 25 years until 2007, when it was sold for the highest per-room price of any hotel in history. It remains one of the world’s most famous hotels with one of the highest average daily rates.
Set on a wooded lakeshore in upstate New York, the property is a marvelous marriage of rustic simplicity and extraordinary luxury, with eleven magnificent guest rooms spread among four log buildings.
It is a study in marvelous contrasts: glorious meals, the blaze of a campfire on the edge of the quiet lake; fine art and original Rockefeller antiques, trails leading off into the woods, a little cabin stocked with snowshoes and skis in winter and croquet mallets in summer.
