The Story of Garrett Hotel Consultants
The spark that became Garrett Hotel Consultants was lit in 1981, during a trip to The Point Resort in New York’s Adirondack Mountains. David, then an investment banker, and Christie Garrett, studying landscape architecture, were captivated by the place—the way landscape, architecture, and spirit converged so effortlessly—and fell headlong into the world of hospitality. When The Point came up for sale five years later, they bought it, forever changing the course of their lives. That bold move launched the Garrett Hotel Group and a portfolio of intimate, extraordinary hotels—each one reimagined with care and artistry, each one rising to national acclaim.
From there, a new calling emerged: helping others do the same. In 2010, drawing on decades of hands-on experience as owners, designers, and visionaries, David and Christie founded Garrett Hotel Consultants, LLC to guide like-minded clients in creating world-class, independent hotels that defy trends and exceed expectations. One by one, their three daughters—and eventually a son-in-law—joined the firm, each bringing their own unique talents and passions to the work.
In 2021, Founder and CEO - and beloved husband and father - David Garrett passed away. Since then, we’ve carried forward his vision with the same passion, honor, and purpose he inspired in us. We’ve expanded our team, deepened our expertise, and widened our reach, while staying rooted in the values he championed: creativity, integrity, craft, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence. “If you’re not improving in the hotel world, you’re falling behind,” he often said—and we live by that philosophy.
