Castle at Dark Island

Chippewa Bay, New York

Reinvisioning a castle.

The Castle at Dark Island was built by an Industrial Age mogul as a surprise for his wife in the late 1800's. GHC completely re-conceptualized the property to turn it into a one-of-a-kind magical boutique hotel, using the underground connecting tunnels as passageways to boat slips and boathouse guest rooms, the chapel as a private sanctuary, and the rooms as extraordinarily luxurious medieval guest quarters. It was sold as a private home.
